It seemed like a really short summer in the Sandia mountains. They were closed from roughly the middle of June to the middle of July because of the high fire danger. I felt that I missed seeing a lot of flowers bloom high up, but then again I’m not sure all that many ever did bloom this year. Even later in the summer, after we’d had plenty of rain, they didn’t seem to bounce back in terms of grass, flowers — or butterflies.
And now it’s clear that fall is well on its way, maybe even coming early this year. I took this shot near the Crest a few days ago, near an aspen stand.
