I hiked up the Embudo Horse Bypass trail this morning, to just past where it tops out and begins to head down again. I sat on a rock and meditated – more or less. There was the point where four pretty good-sized dogs appeared and showed a very active interest in my macaroons; less so in me. Except for the black and white dog whom I loved almost immediately, who perhaps liked me also. He showed up again a few minutes later, from the opposite direction, and I could hear his owner calling him.
I remembered that I’d meditated at almost the same spot exactly five months ago, on November 15. I was sitting under the trees and it started to rain/snow. I left reluctantly because I was pretty sure it was the last time I’d be there for a few months — but the weather was definitely turning. No such threat while I was up there this morning, but the weather is once again turning, and not for the better. Interesting that the two days were so similar — and that my choices were too.
These are the trees under which I meditated five months ago (photo taken on November 13, from the same spot where I meditated today).
A photo of ferns, against a lichen-covered piece of granite, that I took on the way up on November 15:
Some small yellow flowers I saw on the way down today:
And some truly teeny-tiny white flowers I saw:
It’s starting to rain and is supposed to rain all weekend. Wheeeeee! More flowers ahead!
