A few years ago I came up with the bright idea of hiking part of the way down La Luz and then back up. The most beautiful parts of that trail are near the top and, if I hike the entire trail from the bottom, I’m too tired by the time I get to those pretty parts to take photos.
Today I went down to what I think of as the longest switchback, the one where you can see Donald Duck Rock. I’d planned to go further but I gave a bunch of my water to someone who seemed quite dehydrated.
Note to self: Always take extra water on La Luz. Note to everyone else: You need at least a half gallon of water to hike the entire trail in summer.
