I saw these flowers close to the ground in the foothills the other day and thought “I wonder if those are the flowers that are called scrambled eggs?” I have no idea why this thought jumped into my mind because I wasn’t conscious of noticing them ever before. Nonetheless, I came back the next day with a macro lens, crouched on the ground, and discovered these are actually very pretty (if small) flowers. Their Latin name is Corydalis aurea and they are indeed called scrambled eggs, as well as golden smoke.
