I started noticing three-leaf-sumac blossoms a few years ago when I began photographing Sandia hairstreak butterflies on plants other than beargrass. These are such tiny flowers, really only about 1mm in diameter — but they are really pretty when you start looking at them up close (courtesy of a macro lens). Sadly, I have yet to see any Sandia hairstreaks this year or, for that matter, the usual number of insects chowing down on these flowers.
